The short answer is Yes.
Credit card Identity theft can be done in a new way by”swipeless” credit cards with RFID chips.
A radio frequency identification (RFID) credit card is one that uses radio frequency identification technology. This replaces the conventional magnetic strip on your credit card with a radio transmitter instead.
Con artists scan these types of cards and collect account information from the wallets they are carried in. The risk is very minimal but it is real.
Thieves would be able to make a fraudulent purchase online since they have all your account information.
If this makes you uneasy, wrapping your card in aluminum foil will help deflect the scanner’s signal and it is much better than an expensive RFID-blocking sleeve.
